Peter Ford will appear Saturday at the American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre to talk about his famous dad, sign copies of his new biography, “Glenn Ford: A Life,” and screen two of the actor’s film noirs: 1947’s “Framed” and 1949’s “Mr. Soft Touch.”

Ford admitted he is a bit concerned how his father’s fan base will react to the autobiography. The book, though not a “Daddy Dearest,” paints a less-than-flattering picture of the legendary actor. Ford discusses with great admiration his father’s film career that included such classics as 1955’s “Blackboard Jungle,” 1946’s “Gilda,” the second of his five films with Rita Hayworth, and Fritz Lang’s seminal 1953 film noir “The Big Heat.”

But he also doesn’t pull any punches about his father’s chronic womanizing — Hayworth, Joan Crawford, Hope Lange, Geraldine Brooks, Maria Schell, Judy Garland and Brigitte Bardot were among his lovers — his drinking and his distant, often strained relationship with Peter.

Perhaps one of the most shocking revelations is that Ford and Hayworth became lovers during 1948’s “The Loves of Carmen,” and in fact, Hayworth became pregnant with Ford’s child and had an abortion at a hospital in France. “Nobody knows that,” he said. “I have his diaries.”

“The image of my dad is that he is like Jimmy Stewart, an Everyman. He was that on film. He wasn’t that in private life,” said Ford, whose mother was Ford’s first wife, tap-dancing legend Eleanor Powell, whom he describes as a “saint.” Powell was married to the actor for 16 turbulent years. He began the book the year before his father died.

“We worked on it together,” Ford said. After his father’s death he also was able to quote from Glenn Ford’s extensive diaries, which he began writing in 1934, plus many audio tapes he made.

But Rowling is adamant she will not write another Potter book, despite recent reports to the contrary. She says, “I can’t help it. It was like running a race and you get to the finishing line and you’re running too fast to stop, so I do know what happened afterwards and I couldn’t stop my imagination doing that. “It gives me a certain satisfaction to say what I thought happened and to tell other people that, because I would like my version to be the official version.” Meanwhile the Harry Potter series has made Rowling one of the richest woman in the world.

One member said: “When Madonna started talking to the instructor and he told her talking wasn’t allowed, she replied, ‘I need to speak to you,’ and then said to the class, ‘I want you all to leave.'” The teacher soon left with the students and Madonna continued with her yoga. When a dance class came in at 10.30 am dance, she still refused to leave. A representative for Madonna said: “That sounds unlikely.” Last month, Madonna outraged animal rights groups by dyeing her pet sheep different colors for a photo shoot. The 49-year-old star and her director husband Guy Ritchie were branded “irresponsible” after coloring their sheep blue, pink, yellow and green for a Vogue spread at their English country estate in Wiltshire. A spokesman for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) said: “Why is it necessary and what are they trying to prove? It is an irresponsible publicity stunt.”
Editors Note: I don’t think Madonna would do this…

Christina Aguilera has requested enlarged versions of photographs from her recent nude magazine shoot. The ‘Dirrty’ singer – who is expecting her first child with husband Jordan Bratman in the New Year – proudly showed off her pregnant stomach in a series of naked shots for Marie Claire magazine. The mother-to-be was reportedly so impressed with the photographs she has asked the magazine to produce a set of blown-up versions for her to display in her house. A source close to the singer said: “Christina loved those pictures, and wants to put them up in her house so everyone can see them. “She also wants them to be up when the baby is born so she can show him or her what their mom looked like while she was pregnant.” Christina told Marie Claire she was shocked when she discovered she was pregnant on her ‘Back to Basics’ tour. She said: “We were planning on starting to try after the tour. And so, I had gone off the contraceptive pill to prepare my body, because I didn’t know how much time it would take. “You’ve heard it takes some time – except with Power Egg and Super Sperm here. I just can’t believe it happened so quickly!”

Take That
Take That have been left shaken after a crazed fan attempted to break into their hotel rooms. The reformed boy band – who are currently on a world tour – were forced to call in security when a drunken girl in her 20s tried to follow Mark Owen up to his room at London’s Chelsea Harbour hotel. A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “Mark was chatting to her as he was outside having a cigarette and then he told her he was off to bed. She made a dash for the lift, looking crazed and refused to get out so he yelled for security. “In the end she was thrown out of the hotel and that was that.” Mark and his fellow bandmates – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Jason Orange – had been drinking at the hotel bar following their sell-out concert at The O2 arena on Friday night along with a group of female fans, including the girl. The source added: “There were around a dozen fans in the bar and it was all good-natured. But it became more worrying when one girl tried to get upstairs into the boys’ rooms. “They called for security and had her thrown out. After a night on stage they can’t be doing with any stress at the hotel.” The incident happened after Gary and Jason had gone to bed and they have upped security for the remainder of their tour.

Hunk Nick Lachey
Nick Lachey and girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo reportedly got married in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas this weekend. The former ‘Newlyweds’ star and the MTV presenter are rumoured to have tied the knot in front of close friends and family at one of the Bahamas’ Carlyle Hotels. A source claimed: “Vanessa’s entourage of hair and make-up artists and dressers arrived at the secret location on Friday to prepare for the wedding.” However, a representative for Nick denied the pair had wed, saying: “Nick was in his hometown of Cincinnati last weekend working on his new NBC show ‘Clash of the Choirs’, as well as another show he is producing for MTV.” Nick’s ex-wife Jessica Simpson filed for divorce in 2005, after three years together. Their married life was filmed by MTV for their reality TV show ‘Newlyweds’. Jessica is now dating American footballer Tony Romo after her father-and-manager Joe Simpson introduced them.

Victoria Beckham reportedly had her breast implants removed to stop her boobs falling out on the Spice Girls tour. Victoria, also known as Posh, was worried her ample bosom may pop out of her tight Roberto Cavalli outfits while performing the band’s dance routines and decided to have her implants taken out to avoid any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions. A source is quoted as saying: “There is speculation she had her implants taken out for the tour so she can fit into the costumes without the risk of them falling out during some of the more energetic routines.” Victoria, 33, previously denied having a boob job until court papers were released in 2005 proving she had undergone surgery. Last week, Victoria – who is the only member of the group not to perform a solo track on the reunion tour – defended her vocal talents. She said: “I’m no Mariah Carey, but I can sing. “It became very obvious from the start that I was never going to be the best singer or the best dancer or the best actress. I was never a ‘natural.’ You know, I’ve never been that good at anything, to be completely honest.”

Hollywood Star Jack Nicholson
Jack Nicholson says men act like dogs after having sex. ‘The Shining’ actor – who is famous for his womanising ways – says all guys forget about women one hour after having sex with them, just like canines. He said: “We have more in common with a male dog than we do with a woman in this department. This may be male chauvinism in a certain context. But, baby, it’s also science! “I don’t have much philosophy other than ‘live in the now’. And that’s very difficult to do. Don’t leave something that you really want to do undone.” But father-of-five Jack also said his promiscuous lifestyle in the 60s could have lead to him fathering up to “9,000” children. He laughed: “There could be 9,000 for all I know – I used to live so freely.” Jack, who smashed a motorist’s car window with a golf club in 1994, says golf still brings out his fiery temper. The 70-year-old star told Men’s Journal magazine: “I’m not a very Zen guy. I’ve laid in sand traps and cried, and hurled golf clubs in lakes.”
